Alumicraft Ascends: Class 1 Victory and Class 10 Domination at 2025 San Felipe 250
Alumicraft Race Cars opened the 2025 desert racing season in commanding fashion at the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250, the first round of the prestigious SCORE-International World Desert Championship. Battling over 250 grueling miles of classic Baja terrain, Alumicraft-supported racers stood atop the podium in two of the most competitive categories, Class 1 and Class 10, demonstrating the unmatched performance and durability of Alumicraft-built race vehicles.
Held along the shimmering coastline of the Sea of Cortez, this year's San Felipe 250 challenged 259 race teams with a fast and rugged course that wound through iconic regions, including the San Felipe dunes, Matomi Wash, Huatamote, and Chanate. The unforgiving landscape saw only a fraction of the entries reach the checkered flag, making every podium result a testament to driver skill and engineering excellence.
ALUMICRAFT WINS BIG IN CLASS 1
Veteran off-road racer Adam Pfankuch piloted the RPI Racing #168 Alumicraft unlimited buggy to a decisive Class 1 victory, completing the brutal loop in 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 49 seconds. The rough, rocky, and relentlessly demanding technical layout pushed competitors and their equipment to the edge, but Pfankuch and his team rose to the occasion.
“It was a truck course for sure, very rough and very technical, but we held our own,” Pfankuch said at the finish line on El Malecon. "We had a couple of flat tires that were deserved. But that's what it takes to lead up front. All in all, a great day."
The win further cements Alumicraft’s legacy as a premier constructor in the unlimited open-wheel category, where mechanical resilience and driver confidence are paramount.
CLASS 10: A FIELD DOMINATED BY ALUMICRAFT
If Class 1 showed Alumicraft's elite performance at the top, Class 10 showcased their complete dominance. Defending series champion Francisco Vera claimed first place in the #1000 Alumicraft, clocking in at 4 hours, 17 minutes, and 49 seconds and overcoming mid-race adversity to rise from seventh to first.
“We drove like always with the same strategy: chill and intelligent,” said Vera, who took over driving duties from his brother at Race Mile 110. “We had problems with the transmission at mile 200, but zero flats. It was a clean race. Things went well.”
Hot on his heels was Maximiliano Yee, who secured second place in the #1014 Antilia Water Alumicraft, riding on BFGoodrich Tires and FOX. Despite several time-consuming stops, Yee's team managed a clean, aggressive run through the course's constantly shifting terrain.
"The course was challenging, but it's the SCORE San Felipe 250, so it's fast and pedal to the metal," Yee remarked. “A lot of new rocks and whoops since pre-running. You have to watch the car carefully. We’re going for the championship this year. See you at the SCORE Baja 500.”
Eight of the top ten finishers in Class 10 competed in Alumicraft buggies, which is a commanding presence in one of SCORE's most tightly contested categories.
